| Illegal Beauty has started as collaboration between the social and artistic sector. To supervise Illegal Beauty activities and establish guidance to the overall direction of the project, a board was formed by delegates from various organizations for refugees and a few people from other disciplines. The committee also supervised the finances. From September 2005 the project was co-coordinated and partly financially supported by Vluchtelingenwerk Antwerpen vzw. This is an umbrella organization for a few organizations that provide social aid for refugees and people without papers. Vluchtelingenwerk Antwerpen initiated with IB different events and collaborations.
Since November 2006 Illegal Beauty is a virtual platform. The non-profit initiative is searching for new host organisations, financial support and international committee members.
